BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater College evened its overall record at 7-7 and improved to 3-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play with a 9-0 victory in men's tennis action Tuesday afternoon over Shenandoah University.
The Eagles swept doubles play in impressive fashion.
Christian Lynn and Mike Cable got things started with an 8-4 victory over Shenandoah's Steven Baker and Kelly Sykes at No. 1 doubles. Bridgewater's Brandon Larsen and Thomas Rishcoff coasted past Will Leach and Zach O'Neal at No. 2 and Eagles teammates Sam Churchill and Kyle Hartfield completed the sweep with an 8-4 win over Brett Holmes and Wes Licklider at No. 3.
Bridgewater controlled singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets.
Larsen took a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Baker and No. 1 and Hartfield followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Leach at No. 2 singles.
Lynn posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 over O'Neal while Rishcoff turned back Sykes 6-1, 5-2 to win the No. 4 singles flight.
Bridgewater's Drew Hubble blanked Holmes 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Aaron Snook finished off the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 over Licklider.
The Eagles are back in action Saturday when they travel to Hampden-Sydney.
