HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision Tuesday to Gordon College.
The Eagles trailed 2-1 after the completion of doubles play.
Bridgewater's Brandon Larsen and Thomas Rishcoff picked up the Eagles point with an 8-2 win over Mike D'Antuono and Peter Godwin.
Zach Hall and Mason Cassady picked up a win for the Fighting Scots at No. 1 doubles with an 8-3 win over Kyle Hartfield and Christian Lynn. At No. 3 doubles, Gordon's James Hawn and Joe Daugherty defeated Cameron Rhoney and Aaron Snook, 8-3.
The teams split the six singles matches, allowing the Scots to take the 5-4 team win.
Bridgewater won matches at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles - all in straight sets.
Hartfield took a 6-1, 6-4 win over Cassady at No. 2 while Lynn defeated D'Antuono 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Rishcoff rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 over Hawn.
Hall took a 7-5, 6-0 win over Larsen at No. 1 singles and the Scots picked up their other two points at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions.
Godwin knocked off Rhoney 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 while Daugherty defeated Kris Stokes 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
