GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford College rallied from a 2-1 hole after doubles play and won five of the six singles flights Sunday afternoon to defeat Bridgewater 6-3 in ODAC men's tennis play.
The Eagles picked up wins in the top two doubles flights to take an early lead.
Christian Lynn and Kyle Hartfield downed Guilford's Turner Votipka and Eric Meiler 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Brandon Larsen and Thomas Rishcoff held off the Quakers' tandem of Aaron Smedley and Trevor Cox 8-6.
Guilford picked up its doubles point at No. 3 where Levi Bruff and Mason Church defeated Bridgewater's Aaron Snook and Cameron Rhoney 8-1.
The Quakers won five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets.
Bridgewater picked up its lone singles win at No. 2 where Hartfield stopped Cox 6-2, 6-3.
In the closest match, Smedley edged Rishcoff at No. 4, winning both sets 7-6 in a tiebreaker. Smedley won the first-set breaker 7-4 and took the second-set tiebreaker 7-3.
At No. 1 singles, Votipka downed BC's Larsen 6-3, 6-0. Meiler added a win for the Quakers at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Lynn.
The Quakers closed out the match with wins in the final two flights. At No. 5, Church rolled past Rhoney 6-1, 6-0 while Bruff defeated Snook 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
