LEXINGTON, Va. - ODAC power Washington and Lee defeated Bridgewater College 7-2 in men's tennis action Wednesday afternoon on the Generals' courts.
W&L led after doubles play by a score of 2-1.
The Generals took their first point when Jordan Krasner and Will Bannister stopped Christian Lynn and Kyle Hartfield 8-4 to win at No. 1 doubles. W&L also won at No. 3 doubles as Sam Borowsky and Ethan Markman defeated Cameron Rhoney and Aaron Snook 8-2.
In the final doubles match on the courts, the Eagles were victorious at No. 2 where Brandon Larsen and Thomas Rishcoff posted an 8-3 decision over W&L's Brian Krouskos and Joe Siami.
Bridgewater claimed its second point on the final match to finish as Lynn outlasted Bannister in split sets at the No. 3 singles postion. Lynn won the first set 6-2, but Bannister evened the match by slipping past Lynn in the second set 7-5. In a tiebreaker to determine the winner, Lynn prevailed 10-7.
The Generals won the five remaining singles matches to clinch the victory.
At No 1 singles, Krasner defeated Larsen in a close match by scores of 6-3 and 6-4. At No. 4 singles, Rishcoff pushed Markman to the limit, losing 7-6, 6-4.
W&L's Michael Holt defeated Hartfield 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Siami blanked Rhoney 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. At No. 6 singles, Snook pushed Borowsky in the opening set before losing his match 6-4, 6-0.
