WINCHESTER, Va. - Bridgewater College took a 7-2 victory Thursday over Shenandoah University in ODAC men's tennis action.
The Eagles took a 2-1 lead after doubles with victories in the top two flights.
Kyle Hartfield and Christian Lynn rolled to an 8-1 victory over Shenandoah's Jesse Ewing and Matt Hwang at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Bridgewater's Brandon Larsen and Thomas Rishcoff defeated Steven Baker and Blake Sharp 8-3.
The Hornets picked up a point at No. 3 where Will Leach and Kelly Sykes held off BC's Aaron Snook and Cameron Rhoney 8-4.
The Eagles won five of the six singles matches to clinch the victory.
Bridgewater won the top four singles flights, all in straight sets while losing a total of just six games.
Larsen blanked Baker 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and Hartfield downed Ewing 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot. Lynn turned back Sharp 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 while Rishcoff defeated Hwang at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-1.
Rhoney claimed Bridgewater's final point at No. 6 singles as he outlasted Zach O'Neal. Rhoney took the first set 6-3, but O'Neal evened the match by winning 6-2 in the second set. A tiebreaker was played to determine the winner and Rhoney prevailed by a score of 10-8.
Shenandoah's singles point came at No. 5 as Leach defeated Snook 6-1, 6-0.
