Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Bridgewater College had its four-game winning streak snapped Wednesday afternoon as Marymount University handed the Eagles a 12-6 defeat.
After Marymount took the lead with a run in the top of the first, the Eagles forged ahead with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Austin Batten led off the frame with a single and Cavin Clyde walked. After Clyde was picked off first, Ryan Leake walked and Kenner Berry singled to load the bases. Batten scored on Brendan Howell's grounder and Damian Reed followed with a two-run double for a 3-1 Eagles lead.
The lead didn't last long as the Saints plated two runs in the top of the second to tie the score. Brandon Savage drove in both runs with a two-out single.
The Eagles regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Reed walked to lead off the inning and, with one out, Hunter Hensley was hit by a pitch. Batten put the Eagles on top with a two-out single, making the score 4-3.
The Saints answered in the bottom of the fourth with a big inning. Marymount scored six times to open up a 9-4 lead. Kaden Darrow plated two runs with a single and Brandon Orbe added a three-run double to highlight the uprising.
Bridgewater added a run in the top of the sixth on a groundout by Batten, but Marymount scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 12-6 lead.
Bridgewater finished the game with 11 hits. Batten, Berry and Garrison Wright produced two hits each. Batten and Howell each drove in a pair of runs.
The Eagles play their final game in Florida on Thursday afternoon when they square off with Rowan.
