Randolph Breaks 8th Tie of Game to Edge Bridgewater

Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Va. –
In a tense game that featured eight ties and five lead changes, the Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team was edged by Randolph 11-10 on Saturday.

The Eagles got four goals from Blake Mann, with Daniel Brown scoring twice and totaling three assists and Chris Voorhees adding a hat trick and one assist.

Randolph's Andrew Risse had three goals and two assists, while teammate Ryan Campbell's second goal of the day was the winner with 5:01 left in the contest.

That goal came after Bridgewater had killed off a 6-on-4 man advantage opportunity for Randolph, without even allowing a shot attempt.

Previously, the game had been tied at 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in the second half. Mann finished in a crowd off Thomas Maher's pass to tie the game at 9-all in the fourth quarter, and Sean MacLeish boxed out his man to get to the crease and score for a 10-9 BC lead before the visitors tallied the final two goals of the contest.

Risse helped give Randolph an early 2-1 lead, assisting teammate Andrew Gleitz and then picking up a rebound and scoring after Andrew Buss had made the initial save.

Brown had opened the scoring with a goal while being hit hard, and assisted Mann later in the first quarter to tie the contest at 2-2.

Late in the first quarter, defender Curtis Hughes countered and hit Mann with a great pass in front of the cage, but RC goalie Cam Davis came up with the point-blank stop. Early in the second Kadri Hearns hit the post and Hughes broke again, this time electing to shoot himself but firing just wide.

Bridgewater got the first man-up opportunity of the contest trailing 4-2 and made it count when Tylden Mosby found Voorhees with a nice pass.

Bridgewater tied the game at 6-6 in the third quarter after Mann caused a turnover and Voorhees fed Brown for the goal.

Mann then tied it at 7-all with a tough scoop shot after taking Brown's pass with his back to the cage.

After a game that both teams desperately needed in the ODAC playoff race, Randolph (8-6, 2-4) moves ahead of Bridgewater (6-7, 1-5) in the conference standings. The Eagles will travel to Roanoke on Wednesday before honoring the program's first full senior class next Saturday in Bridgewater's home finale vs. Hampden-Sydney.
