LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team ran its winning streak to six matches in a row with a 5-2 victory Friday evening over Randolph College in ODAC action played at the Crosswhite Athletic Club.
The teams split the top two doubles flights. Bridgewater's Thomas Rishcoff and Emmett Johnson downed JT von Seggern and Q Manglapus 8-4, at No. 2, but the WildCats evened the score when Bradley Strober and Doug Corbett slipped past Kyle Hartfield and Joe Dillenbeck 9-7 at the No. 1 singles flight.
The Eagles led 2-1 after doubles play as Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner defeated Trevor Johnson and Dario Schiano-Moriello 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Bridgewater won the top three singles flights to clinch the victory. Both the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches went to three sets.
At No. 1 singles, Hartfield rallied from a 6-4 loss in the first to defeat Strober. Hartfield evened the match by taking the second set 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-5. A 10-point tiebreaker was played to determine the winner with Hartfield coming out on top 10-5.
Rishcoff also rallied from a first-set setback to defeat von Seggern at No. 2 singles. After losing the first set 7-5, Rishcoff held off his opponent in the second set, 6-4, to even the score. In the 10-point tiebreaker to determne the winner, Rishcoff prevailed 10-4.
Dillenbeck claimed the final Eagles point wth a victory at No. 3, defeating Johnson in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
