VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Wesleyan stayed unbeaten in conference play with a 7-2 victory over the Bridgewater College men's tennis team Sunday afternoon.
The Marlins led 3-0 after sweeping the doubles action in three closely contested matches.
At No. 1, Virginia Wesleyan's Graham Wilson and Adam Rosemblaum defeated Kyle Hartfield and Joe Dillenbeck 8-4. Kenneth Downing and Tyler Chang held off Bridgewater's Thomas Rishcoff and Emmett Johnson 8-6 in the No. 2 match while Drew Tomajczyk and Brendan Kelleher defeated the BC duo of Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner by a score of 8-6 to win at No. 3.
Bridgewater picked up its points at No. 3 and No. 6 singles.
Dillenbeck turned back Rosemblaum 6-4, 6-4 to win at No. 3 while Horner defeated Jake Morgan 6-1, 6-0 to take the victory at No. 6.
The Marlins won the remaining four singles flights to close out the 7-2 victory.
At No. 1 singles Wilson turned back Hartfield 6-2, 6-4 while at No. 2 Downing stopped Rishcoff 6-3, 6-3. Tomajczyk downed Johnson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 and Chang defeated Roberts 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 5 slot.
