Eagles Fall In ODAC Semifinals To Guilford

ASHKAND, Va. - The tennis season came to an end for the Bridgewater men's team Saturday as Guilford College defeated the Eagles, 5-0, in the semifinals of the ODAC tournament played at Randolph-Macon College.

The Quakers, seeded third in the tournament, took control of the match by sweeping doubles play.

Aaron Smedley and Levi Bruff put the Quakers on the board with an 8-1 victory over Bridgewater's Dayton Carpenter and Emmett Johnson at No. 3 doubles.

Chasen Chacon and Graham Pearson added an 8-2 decision over the Eagles' Kris Stokes and Sonet Gandhi to win at No. 2.

Tate Godwin and Mesa Martorell completed the sweep by holding off Bridgewater's Nathaniel Horner and Freddie Roberts in the No. 1 singles match.

The Quakers closed out the match with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

Bruff defeated Gandhi 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 while Mason Church downed Carpenter 6-2, 6-2 to win at No. 6 singles.

Bridgewater, the No. 2 seed in the tournament,  closes out the season with a 12-6 overall record.
