ASHLAND, Va. - Bridgewater College picked up a key victory in ODAC men's tennis action Saturday when the Eagles defeated Randolph-Macon, 6-3.

Doubles played a key role in the Eagles' victory as the team swept the three doubles points.

Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner were first off the court with an 8-3 victory at No. 2 over Grant Sarver and Jack Aprahamian. Joe Dillenbeck and Josh Rodgers defeated Baxter Carter and Alex Hein 8-2 to win at No. 1 before Kris Stokes and Emmett Johnson completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 3 over Jacob Haines and Shane Berry.

The Yellow Jackets took the first singles point when Berry defeated Horner 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

Roberts moved the Eagles closer to the team win when he turned back Carter 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 4 slot.

After Randolph-Macon's Hein stopped Johnson 6-1, 7-6 at No. 3, Dillenbeck closed out the match for the Eagles with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles over Haines.

Rodgers added a point for the Eagles at No. 2 singles when his opponent, Sarver, retired in the third set. Rodgers lost the first set 3-6, but bounced back to even the score by winning the second set 6-4. Rodgers was leading 2-1 in the third set when played stopped.

The Yellow Jackets won the final point at No. 6 where Aprahamian held off Stokes 6-4, 6-3.
