HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Bridgewater men's tennis team took a 3-0 lead after doubles play Thursday afternoon, but Wilkes rallied to win all six singles matches, three in split sets, to slip past the Eagles 6-3.

Joe Dillenbeck and Josh Rodgers defeated Larry Scartz and Chris Maderitz 8-4 to win the point at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner held off Andrew MacDonald and Gabriel Veliz 8-5. Bridgewater's Kris Stokes and Emmett Johnson slipped past Alec Levin and Jack Maline, 8-6, to win at the No. 3 slot.

The top two singles flights were both won in split sets by the Colonels. At No. 1, Courtney Murphy held of Dillenbeck 6-7, 6-2 (10-7). Wilkes' Artyom Nabokin outlasted Rodgers at No. 2, rallying after losing the first set to win 4-6, 6-3 (11-9).

Horner also lost in split sets at No. 5, falling to Braddock Chow. Horner won the first set 7-6, but Chow took the second set, 6-3, to even the match. A tiebreaker was played to determine the winner with Chow coming out on top 10-5.

The other three matches were competitive, but Wilkes won each one in straight sets.

Jon White stopped Johnson 6-4, 6-2 to take the win at No. 3. Andrew Neidig downed Roberts at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-3 while Ryan Simon turned back Stokes 6-4, 6-4 to win the point at No. 6 singles.

The Eagles close out their spring trip on Friday with a match against Ohio Northern.
