BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track and field team hosted the 23rd annual Dr. Harry G.M. Jopson Invitational on Friday.
Davonta Womack grabbed second in the men's 100 meters with a time of 10.79. Richard Wojno was fourth with a time of 11.38.
Alex Galloway ran for second in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.19. Wojno finished fourth again with a time of 22.97.
Galloway finished second as well in the 400 meters with a time of 49.74.
Junior Johnny Haizel-Cobbina earned a second-place finish in the men's 800 meters at 1:57.94.
Sophomore Shane Gibson finished right behind him in third with a time of 1:59.72.
Senior John Denlinger was third in the men's 1500 with a time of 4:21.40.
Elijah Water finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.01.
Christopher Moore claimed the win in the men's 400 meter hurdles with a strong time of 57.99.
BC had a squad of Anthony Lovelace, Galloway, Wojno, and Womack in the 4 x 100 meter relay, finishing first with a time of 42.37.
In field events, Bridgewater shined with six wins on the day. Prescott Terrell was spectacular, picking up three wins for the Eagles.
Junior Ryan Shepard won the high jump on a mark of 2.00 meters (6' 63/4).
Jordan Weatherwax earned another BC win as well in the pole vault with a mark of 3.67 meters (12' 01/2").
Womack continued the success with a win in the long jump with a leap of 7.01 meters (23' 0"). Chase Rosenthal finished third in the event on a mark of 6.27 meters (20' 7").
Rosenthal finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.50 meters (44' 31/2").
Prescott Terrell finished first in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.31 meters (43' 8").
Terrell earned the top spot again in the discus with a mark of 43.79 meters (143' 8"). Bridgewater got the second and third spots in the event as well. Corey Huffman was second at 40.96 meters (134' 4") and Chris Wolfgang third at 39.59 meters (129' 11").
Terrell got his final win on the day in the hammer with a mark of 48.00 meters (157' 6"). Wolfgang was second at 36.51 meters (119' 9").
Huffman grabbed the number two spot in the men's javelin with a throw of 48.84 meters (160' 3").
The Eagles are back in action next weekend when they host the 2018 ODAC Track and Field Championships. Events are Friday, April 20th beginning at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 21st beginning at 10:00 a.m.
