HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - Bridgewater College dropped a close match Thursday in ODAC action, falling 6-3 to Hampden-Sydney College.

The Tigers jumped out to a quick lead winning the top two flights in doubles play. Matthew and Michael Moody put the hosts on the board with an 8-4 victory over Bridgewater's Joe Dillenbeck and Josh Rodgers at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, William Driskill and Levy Young held off Emmett Johnson and Sonet Gandhi, 8-5. The Eagles salvaged a point at No. 3 where Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner defeated Clark Cummings and Grayson Burns, 8-5.

The Tigers moved ahead 3-1 when Cummings opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 over Roberts. Hampden-Sydney moved closer to the team victory when Michael Moody downed Johnson 6-2, 6-2 to take the point at No. 3 singles.

The Eagles stayed alive when Rodgers rallied to defeat Driskill at No. 2 singles in split sets 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.

The match was clinched at No. 1 singles where Matthew Moody fought off Dillenbeck in a close match 7-6, 6-4.

Hampden-Sydney claimed its final point at No. 6 singles as Burns held off Gandhi in split sets. Gandhi won the first set 6-2, but Burns evened the match by winning the second set by the same score. A tiebreaker was played to determine the winner with Burns coming out on top 10-5.

Bridgewater's final point was won at No. 5 singles with Horner outlasting Young in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
