BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team dominated a non-conference matchup with Medaille on Wednesday, taking a 16-0 first half lead in a 25-4 win.

Phelan Burns (six goals, assist) and Connor McLean (three goals, four assists) each racked up seven points on the attack. Lucas Johnson, Sean MacLeish and Ryan Costanzo each scored twice, with MacLeish also recording a trio of assists.

William Spinnler won 13-of-16 faceoffs and Tyler Nieto went 11-for-15, with each picking up a game-high eight ground balls.

Justin Calabrese, Chris Martel, Johnson, Hunter Callan, MacLeish and Kyle Graham gave Bridgewater a 6-0 lead in the opening six minutes of action.

Johnson followed with a man-up goal, and the Eagles stretched their lead to 11-0 in the first quarter. The Mavericks got their first man-up opportunity late in the quarter, with Robbie Noyes making a low save on Jake Rush.

BC moved to 3-for-3 on the man-advantage with a MacLeish rip early in the second quarter to make it 12-0. Bridgewater had another power play chance later in the second but Medaille finally got a kill with an incredible save from Mack Baker- who dove back towards the cage and robbed Johnson with the pole of his stick.

Costanzo's goal with 1:10 left in the second made it 16-0 BC, before Medaille got on the board eight seconds before halftime.

Bridgewater scored six seconds into the third quarter, as Spinnler won the faceoff clean and went right down the field to set up Costanzo for the tally.

Medaille had a 6-on-4 chance in the third, and Noyes saved Rush again to kill off the penalty.

Brandon Schick, McLean, Ryan Ashpole, Sam Homick and Eric Mudd all scored their first collegiate goals in the victory.

Rush had seven ground balls for the Mavericks, while Matthew Gabalski forced six turnovers.

Bridgewater improves to 5-1 and will travel to #16 Washington & Lee for an ODAC matchup on Saturday night.
