Washington and Lee defeats Eagles, 8-1

LEXINGTON, Va. - Washington and Lee defeated the Bridgewater College men's tennis team 8-1 Tuesday afternoon in ODAC action.

Bridgewater picked up its lone point at No. 1 singles where Eagles' freshman Canon Secord defeated Harry Shepherd in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5.

Matthew Gordon lost to W&L's Alex Fedor at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-2 and Freddie Roberts fell to Mitchell Thomas 6-0, 6-3.

The Generals won the final three matches on the singles ladder without losing a game.

Thomas and Bobby Neuner took the point at No. 1 doubles for the Generals with an 8-3 victory over Secord and Gordon. Shepherd and Noah Tapp won at No. 2 doubles, defeating Roberts and Sonet Gandhi 8-1. Fedor and John Rudden blanked Robert Williard and Nicholas Kiser 8-0 to win at the No. 3 doubles slot.
