Eagles Edge Lynchburg, 5-4

LYNCHBURG Va. - Bridgewater freshman Matthew Gordon won a three-set marathon at No. 2 singles to claim the deciding point Thursday in Bridgewater's 5-4 ODAC victory over Lynchburg.

The Eagles led 2-1 after doubles action. Canon Secord and Gordon rolled to an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles and Freddie Roberts and Sonet Gandhi edged Nick Savino and Daniel Christian 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

Lynchburg's Colton Mullins and Chris Broadwell stopped Nicholas Kiser and Robert Williard 8-2 to win the point at No. 3.

Secord rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and Gandhi downed Savino 6-0, 6-2 to win at No. 4.
 
Lynchburg picked up points at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Christian edged Bridgewater's Roberts 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3 while Broadwell held off Kiser 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 5 slot. Vincent Oliver downed Willaird 6-0, 6-2 for the point at No. 6.
 
In the deciding match, Mullins took the first set over Gordon in a tiebreaker 7-6, but Gordon rallied to win the second set 6-2. Gordon outlasted Mullins 6-4 in the third set to claim the winning point for the Eagles.
