Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team was within three goals in the second half of an eventual 16-7 loss at Albright on Saturday.
Dwyer Neal (four goals, five ground balls, four draw controls, two caused turnovers) made it 7-4 Lions with 26:57 remaining, but a BC yellow card helped spur a quick two-goal response by the hosts.
Neal struck again with 21:07 remaining to make it 10-6 Albright, but the Lions scored the next four goals to pull away.
Allison Burris scored twice for the Eagles. Mackenzie Parcell led the defense with three caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Bridgewater controlled the opening three minutes of possession, taking the lead through a Neal goal and nearly making it 2-0 on a Jodie Welsh free position chance that was broken up.
Albright opened up a 5-1 lead, but Burris scored on the man advantage as Bridgewater pulled back to within three at halftime.
Mikaela Brooks made 11 saves in the cage for the Eagles, a number that was matched by Albright goaltender Terae Mason.
Bridgewater (1-1) will return home to face Marymount next Saturday at 1 p.m.
