GREENSBORO, N.C. - Bridgewater College lost its match Saturday afternoon to the Guilford College Quakers 7-2 in ODAC men's tennis action.
The Quakers won two of the three doubles matches to take an early 2-1 lead. Bridgewater salvaged a point at No. 2 doubles where Gabe Elder and Matthew Gordon edged Jay Montague and Drake Schreiber 8-7. The Eagles duo won the tiebreaker 8-6.
Guilford (8-1, 7-1 in the ODAC) closed out the match by winning five of the six singles matches.
Bridgewater (4-7, 2-6 in the ODAC) took the point at No. 1 singles where Canon Secord, in his toughest match of the season, remained undefeated by stopping Joe Horne in thee sets 6-1, 3-6, 6-0.
Schreiber won his match at No. 2 singles over Bridgewater's Gordon 6-4, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Elijah Gregory defeated BC's Nick Kiser 6-0, 6-2. Montague stopped Gabe Elder 6-2 6-3 to take the point at No. 4. Tye Sasser downed the Eagles' Leyton Pullin 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Guilford's Drew Clark took a 6-2, 6-0 win over Bryce Cline at the No. 6 slot.
