Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team outscored Shenandoah 4-1 over the final 17 minutes of the game, but a pair of five-goals runs in the first half carried the Hornets to an 18-8 victory.
The second half was evenly matched at 4-4, after an Allison Burris tally and two Lauren Roberts goals wrapped up the scoring. Kaity Petersheim scored with 13:11 left in the game, with Emma Stiffler's goal a minute and a half later representating the only Hornet point over the final 17:34 of the contest.
The 10-point difference was made up by two 5-0 Shenandoah stretches in the first half. Two each from Alyson Bittinger and Emily Onorato helped the hosts jump out to a quick 5-0 lead.
After Annika Benson's second goal of the day made it 8-3 with 13:31 left in the first half, Reilly Cisar struck right off the draw control to kick off another five-goal unanswered run which stretched the lead to 13-3.
Aunnie Hacker broke the Shenandoah streak with 1:05 on the clock, but Cisar assisted Macy Tignor just before halftime to restore the 10-goal gap at the break.
Jodie Welsh totaled five draw controls, while Roberts added four draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover to her two goals. Mikaela Brooks made 14 saves in the cage.
Bridgewater is 1-5 after a game which counted as non-conference. BC will be back in action for an ODAC contest on Friday at Randolph.
