Box Score SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 win on the road over Roanoke on Friday afternoon.
BC opened by taking two out of the three doubles matches.
The top duo of freshman Matthew Leonard and senior Canon Secord emerged victorious 8-2 at the No. 1 spot.
Senior Matthew Gordon and junior Noah Hughes teamed up at the No. 3 spot and fell behind 3-6 but strung together five straight games to take the match 8-6 and put BC up 2-1.
Secord continued to roll in singles as the two time ODAC Player of the Year picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top spot.
Sophomore Gabe Elder came out hot taking the opening set 6-0. The Charlotte native followed that up with a 6-3 win in set two at the No. 2 spot.
Leonard faced adversity at the No. 5 spot trailing by a break of serve multiple times in the opening set but overcame the deficit to take the set and the match 7-6(2), 6-2. The win by the freshman clinched the win for the Eagles as he has done multiple times this season.
Senior Leyton Pullin added a 6-3, 1-6, 10-5 win at the No. 6 spot to complete the match.
The Eagles will be back in action Monday, April 4 when they travel to Mary Baldwin. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
