Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team picked up a 8-1 win over Shenandoah this afternoon while celebrating Senior Day.
Canon Secord, Matthew Gordon, and Leyton Pullin were recognized before the match for their contributions to the program.
The men started their match by taking a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles action.
Secord and freshman Matthew Leonard battled at the top spot and picked up a 8-6 victory. Gordon and junior Noah Hughes jumped out to a quick start to pick up a 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot.
Sophomores Gabe Elder and Bryce Cline teamed up at the No. 3 spot for a convincing 8-2 victory.
Singles action was highlighted by the seniors. Secord battled from a service break down in the second set to a 6-2, 7-5 win at the top slot.
Gordon added a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 3 slot while Pullin cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot.
Leonard and Hughes also added wins at the No. 4 and No. 6 spots to round out play.
The men will be back in action for a key ODAC matchup at Hampden-Sydney on Tuesday April 26 with first serve at 3:30 p.m.
