Box Score HAMPDEN SYDNEY, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell to Hampden-Sydney 8-1 on Tuesday in ODAC action.
The Eagles fell behind 3-0 as the Tigers swept doubles play.
BC was competitive especially at the No. 3 spot where junior Noah Hughes and senior Matthew Gordon stayed on serve until a late break decided the match 4-8. At the top spot senior Canon Secord and freshman Matthew Leonard fell behind early but fought back, ultimately falling 3-8.
In singles action the highlight came at the top spot where Secord battled to a 7-6(6), 6-1 win over No. 24 Barrett Foster.
At the No. 2 spot sophomore Gabe Elder also was locked in a battle taking the opening set 6-2 but dropped the second 2-6. In the match deciding tiebreak Elder fell behind 0-5 and battled back ultimately falling 5-10.
The Eagles will be back in action on Monday, April 25 to host Virginia Wesleyan in their final home match of the regular season. Action is set to start at 2 p.m.
