Women's Lacrosse Season Ends in First Round of ODAC Tournament

ASHLAND, Va. -- The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team fell to the No. 6 seed, Randolph-Macon, 21-11, in the first round of the ODAC Tournament on Monday night.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Bridgewater 11, Randolph-Macon 21
  • Records: Bridgewater 6-12; Randolph-Macon 8-10

How It Happened

  • Bridgewater found the back of the net first from the stick of Allison Burris to take an early 1-0 lead with 13 minutes to go in the opening period. The Yellow Jackets fought back with back-to-back scores to go up 2-1 with 11:22 showing on the clock.
  • Lauren Roberts scored her first goal of the night to tie the game, once again.
  • R-MC scored back-to-back again to go up 4-2 before Roberts tallied another goal to cut the lead in half. 
  • Randolph-Macon outscored the visitors 3-1 in the remaining four and a half minutes to go to the second quarter up 7-4. 
  • The second period was all Yellow Jackets as they outscored BC 6-1 to take a 13-5 lead into halftime.
  • Each side notched five goals in the third quarter, including goals from Aunnie Hacker and Madeline Magill, plus another three scores from Roberts.
  • Randolph-Macon struck three more times in the fourth on its way to a 21-11 victory.
  • Randolph-Macon advances to the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament and will face No. 3 seed, Shenandoah, on Wednesday. 

Match Notes

  • Roberts led the way and scored seven goals with an assist to go with four draw controls.
  • Magill, Annika Benson, Burris and Hacker scored the other four goals, while Emily Jencks and Hacker each also dished out an assist. 
  • Melissa Wilson caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls, while Emily Dell also caused a pair of turnovers and grabbed two ground balls. 
  • Grace Pietro finished with five draw controls, while Jenna Entsminger controlled three draws and had one CT and one GB.
  • Rachael Robinson closed out her first season as an Eagle with nine saves and three ground balls. 

Up Next

  • The Eagles finish up their 2022 campaign after bowing out of the ODAC Tournament, which they reached for the first time since 2018.
