NEW ORLEANS -- The Bridgewater College women's track & field program entered the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, which were announced by the association on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles claim the No. 25 spot in the national ranking index and also slid up to No. 10 in the South regional rankings that were released earlier in the week. This marks the first time the women's program has claimed a spot in the national rankings since the 2018 season.
Bridgewater finished fourth at the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend and saw
Adalia Coleman claim a pair of first place finishes in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Coleman's time in the 60m is the fastest in the country this season, while the reigning national champion boasts a ninth-best time in the 200m in all of Division III.
Kacee Hooker finished fourth in the 200m and the 400m at the championships, while the duo of
Mackenzie Young and
Emily Smeds scored top five finishes in the 5,000 meter race.Â
BC is the lone ODAC school to feature in the top 25 this week and is one of two schools from the South region in the poll (Emory, 14th). This past week, the women's 60m and triple jump squad each recorded top 25 spots in the weekly event squad rankings at No. 21 and No. 24, respectively.
The Eagles are back in action this weekend for the South Regional Final Qualifier, hosted by Shenandoah.
