Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell to Virginia Wesleyan 9-0 on Friday afternoon in ODAC action.
The Marlins swept all of the double points to take a 3-0 lead in the match, but not without a battle at the No. 2 spot.
Noah Hughes and
Matthew Leonard traded service breaks with duo of Marlins to open the set and hung around in the set. The Eagles second duo ended up falling 4-8.
In singles action, Leonard opened his match by staying on serve to open the match but ultimately fell 2-6, 1-6.
Hughes fell behind 0-5 in the opening set of his match at No. 6 before the rain came. After a short delay, the junior got a game to stop some of the momentum before he dropped the opening set 1-6. Hughes opened his second set on serve but dropped the second set 2-6.
The Eagles are back in action on Sunday as they host Hampden-Sydney at 2 p.m.
