BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track and field team kicked off day one of the ODAC Championships competition Sunday evening at the Jopson Athletic Complex.
The day started off with the shot put where Peter Fulton secured a podium finish in second with a heave of 14.39 meters (47' 2½"). Mike Smith finished ninth with a toss of 12.93m (42' 5¼"). Tony Nesselrodt set a new personal best in the event recording a mark of 12.12m (39' 9¼").
In the hammer throw, Fulton took home the gold securing first place recording a mark of 57.85m (189' 9"). Smith grabbed bronze with a heave of 52.75m (173' 0"). Nesslerodt finished sixth with a throw of 45.22m (148' 4"). Jake McNutt finished with a mark of 43.42m (142' 5"). Ryan Duncan set a new personal best with a heave of 31.00m (101' 8").
In the long jump, Kyle Clanton secured a podium finish in second place with a best jump of 6.91m (22' 8"). Trey Birchett set a new personal best in the event with a leap of 6.30m (20' 8"). Anthony Matthews recorded a mark of 6.18m (20' 3½").
In the high jump, Birchett finished sixth recording a personal best mark of 1.84m (6' 0½") as did Euan Spikers with the same height. Mason Lawhorne finished with a leap of 1.79m (5' 10½").
On the track, Ryder Rose set a new personal best in the 3000m steeplechase recording a time of 10:08.27. Caleb Bradley finished with a time of 10:56.09 on the day. Michael Toms ran for a time of 13:03.76 in the event.
In the 10,000 meter run, Anthony Cadle set a new personal best running for a time of 33:06.83. Ethan Duncan finished the event with a time of 13:55.00.
Aaron Moon qualified for the 110m hurdle finals finishing seventh with a time of 16.82 seconds. Tyler Johnson also qualified finishing eighth with a new personal best time of 17.13 seconds.
In the 400m Kaegan Avalos qualified for the finals running for a time of 49.64 seconds.
Kyle Clanton set a huge PR in the 100m, qualifying for the finals with a time of 10.57 seconds moving him to second all-time in program history.
Clanton also set a new PR in the 200m finishing with a qualifying time of 21.72 seconds and moving to second all-time in the category as well. Cy Alderman also set a new personal best finishing with a time of 22.60 seconds.
In the 400m hurdles, Tyler Johnson set a new PR running for a time of 1:01.48.
The Eagles sit second on the ODAC scoreboard with 46 points behind only Lynchburg (52). Action resumes tomorrow at 11 a.m.
