Baseball Set for Clash with No. 4 Lynchburg

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College baseball team has earned the No. 8 seed in the upcoming ODAC Baseball Tournament.

The Eagles will battle top seed No. 4 Lynchburg in a three game series on Saturday and Sunday in Lynchburg with the winner advancing to ODAC Championship weekend in Richmond May 12-14.

The Hornets are currently ranked No. 4 n the latest D3Baseball.com Poll after wrapping up the regular season with a 33-5 mark, including a conference-best 19-3 record in league play. Lynchburg is one of the hottest teams in the country as they have won 13 of their last 14 games with the only loss coming in a split doubleheader against No. 3 Shenandoah. The Hornets are a perfect 20-0 at James C. Fox Field, but much like BC split with Roanoke earlier this season.

The Eagles enter the series with a 16-24 regular season record and a 9-13 mark in ODAC play. Bridgewater finished the regular season winning three of its last four games but has just four wins away from the valley this season.

The regular season matchups between the two sides back in early March featured a pair of wins for the Hornets, but Lynchburg was forced to come from behind late in game two of the twin bill as the Eagles led 5-4 until a run in the eighth and walk off base knock gave the home side the series sweep.

Game one is slated for 2 p.m. on Saturday with games two and three slated for noon and 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
