Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's tennis team wrapped up action at the ITA Southeast Regional hosted by Mary Washington.
Mark Gordon and
Bryce Cline highlighted the action by picking up an 8-6 win in their opening match 8-6 over a pair of Sea Hawks from St. Mary's (Md.) to advance to the consolation final at the B2 doubles flight.
Also in the early time slot,
Noah Hughes and
Corey Beshoar squared off against Sebastian Sierra and Dan Hardy from Lynchburg. The Eagles duo bowed out 3-8 in just their second match together as a doubles team.
Gordon and Cline followed with another tight battle in the B2 consolation final but came up just a service break short 6-8.
In singles action Gabe elder looked to bounce back in the consolation draw of the B3 flight but fell 3-6, 2-6 to Eshan Degamwar of Marymount.
Matthew Leonard looked to carry his confidence over to day two but struggled to find a rhythm in the opening set of his semifinal matchup against James Earwood of Catholic dropping the opening frame 1-6. Leonard got it together in the second set, but a singular service break handed the set and the match to the Cardinal 4-6.
The ITA Southeast Regional continues tomorrow with the semifinal and championship of the champion ship singles and doubles draw highlighted by Washington and Lee's Evan Erb who looks to bring home the singles crown.
The Eagles return to action on Oct. 7 at the Golden Acorn Invitational hosted by Mary Baldwin. Action is set to start at 8 a.m.
