WINCHESTER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track & field team won the Kaye and JJ Smith Invitational, hosted by Shenandoah University, racking up a total 108.5 points.
Tony Nesslerodt registered a win for the Eagles in the weight toss with a throw measuring 14.84 meters (48' 8.25'') earning him the top spot in the ODAC, while teammate
Caleb Palacios placed fourth with a 13.95 meter (45' 9'') toss.
Anthony Matthews picked up a win in the triple jump with a leap that measured 13.10 meters (42' 11.5'') when landing in the pit.
Bennett Cupps picked up a distance win recording a time of 9:08.34 in the 3,000-meter run.
Calvin Hulleman recorded a third-place time of 4:39.20 in the mile and teammate
Gabriel Miller took fifth place running a 4:43.00 mile.
Walker Knicely competed in his first-ever collegiate meet pacing BC in the 400-meter dash placing third with a time of 54.17 seconds.
Trey Birchett saw a jump that cleared the bar at 1.85 meters on the day in the high jump.
Finally, BC's Knicely and
Easton Repko finished second and third in the pole vault clearing the bar 4.25 meters (13' 11.5'') and 3.95 meters (12' 11.5''), respectively. Knicely moved to second in program history for his performance in the event.
Bridgewater makes the trip northeast to the nation's capital this Saturday, Jan. 20, starting a 10 a.m. for the Cardinal Track & Field Classic hosted by the Catholic.
