HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's track and field team competed in the final day of the ODAC championship meet. Bridgewater placed fourth with 100 points. BC was edged out by Washington and Lee for the final podium spot (105 points). Roanoke placed second with 137 points, and Lynchburg claimed the title with 249 points.
Walker Knicely opened for the Eagles with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault. Knicely cleared the 4.25-meter threshold in two tries and was perfect on the 4.40-meter bar.
Trey Birchett placed sixth in the javelin throw with a season best throw of 46.72 meters.
Bridgewater also had an impressive showing in the discus throw, as they had three athletes make the finals. Joe Flynn led the charge with a third-place finish. Flynn threw 42.35 meters. Luke Williams placed fourth with a top throw of 42.06. Nick Goleno was the last finalist for the Eagles and placed seventh with a top throw of 39.93.
Bridgewater took the action to the track, starting with a second-place performance in the 4x100-meter relay. Knicely, Galloway, Browne, and Davenport clocked a season best 41.62, the 52nd best performance in DIII this season.
Jayden Brown earned All-ODAC third team honors in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.64. Joe Amlacher placed seventh with a time of 16.48.
Brown returned to the track for the 400-meter hurdles, placing sixth with a personal best time of 56.01.
Gabe Wylie and Walker Knicely finished seventh and eighth in the 400-meter dash. Knicely put up a personal best 50.24.
Jayden Davenport placed third in the men's 100-meter dash with a mark of 10.76. Davenport also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing fourth with a personal best time of 21.97. Everyone in the race recorded personal best marks.
Bridgewater finished with the 4x400-meter relay. Knicely, Ian Browne, Kyle Galloway, and Wylie placed sixth with a season best 3:26.53.
Bridgewater will compete at the Liberty Twilight meet on Tuesday, May 5.
