SALEM, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track and field team was featured in the Joe LaRocco Invitational, hosted by Roanoke, on Saturday.
Bridgewater earned two podium spots in the weight throw as
Mike Smith grabbed gold with a mark measuring 17.06 meters (55' 11.75'').
Tony Nesslerodt took second place with a toss that measured 15.08 meters (49' 5.75'').
Smith also took first in the shot put setting a new personal record in the event with a heave measuring 14.94 meters (49' 0.25'').
Jesus Flores finished sixth in the event after a throw that measured 13.46 meters (44' 2'').
Kyle Clanton busted out to a 22.90 finish in the 200-meter dash to claim eighth in the event. Clanton also timed a 7.04 in the 60- meter dash semifinals.
Walker Knicely and
Cy Alderman competed in the 400-meter dash finishing with times of 52.61 and 53.84, respectively.
Knicely tied for third in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 4.00 meters (13' 1.5'').
The Eagles travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the JDL DMR Invitational next Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
