SALEM, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track & field team is currently in first after day one of the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Trey Birchett started things off in the high jump claiming second and earned All-ODAC honors in the event making a successful leap of 1.93 meters (6' 3.75'').
Mike Smith was awarded All-ODAC honors after finishing first in the weight throw with a heave that measured 17.97 meters (58' 11.25''). Tony Nesslerodt also claimed All-ODAC honors finishing second in the event with a toss measuring 15.11 meters. Jesus Flores grabbed points for the Eagles placing fifth in the event with a mark of 14.36 meters (47' 1.25'').
Kyle Clanton placed fifth in the long jump with a hop measuring 6.75 meters (22' 1.5''). Clanton also qualified for the 60-meter dash finals after finishing third with a time of 6.91.
Tyler Johnson finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles after stopping the clock at the 8.97 mark to qualify for the finals tomorrow.
Bridgewater currently holds the top spot with 43 points, Washington and Lee sits in second place with 40 points and Lynchburg rounds out the top three with 38 points.
The Eagles will be back at it tomorrow for day two of the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships beginning at 11 a.m.
