LEXINGTON, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track & field team concluded its time at the Washington and Lee Track & Field Carnival.
In the shot put, Mike Smith finished first with a toss of 14.62 meters (47' 11.75''). Smith sets a new personal record and moves fifth in program history while also ranks first in ODAC and is 12th in Division III.
The junior thrower also took home gold in the discus throw with a mark of 44.66 meters (146' 6''). This measurement puts him sixth in program history along with being first in the conference and ninth in DIII. Antonio Harris finished sixth in the event with a heave of 37.90 meters (124' 4'') that puts him fifth in the ODAC.
Anthony Matthews won the triple jump after leaping out to the 13.31-meter (43' 8'') mark. Matthews sits third in the conference and ranks 17th in Division III.
Walker Knicely, Thomas Hennessey and Easton Repko all cleared 3.64 meters (11' 11.25'') in the pole vault and are all tied for third in the league.
Trey Birchett grabbed eighth in the javelin recording a throw of 45.96 meters (150' 9''). This puts Birchett in fifth in the conference.
On the track, Knicely recorded a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.91 good enough for 11th in the ODAC.
The Eagles compete next weekend as they host the annual Doc Jopson Invitational on March 22-23.
