WINCHESTER, Va. – The Bridgewater College track and field teams competed at the South Region Final Qualifier hosted by Shenandoah on Saturday.
On the men's side, Mike Smith saw action in the weight throw winning the event with a mark of 18.00 meters (59' 0.5''). Smith currently sits 16th in all Division III with a throw measuring 18.50 meters (60' 8.5'') set earlier this season at the JDL Last Chance Invitational.
Smith also took part in the shot put placing third with a toss of 14.49 meters (47' 6.25''). The Waynesboro, Va. native set a new personal record last weekend at the ODAC Track & Field Championships in the shot put with a measurement of 15.02 meters (49' 3.5'').
On the women's side, Abby Mikolay recorded a heave of 12.63 meters (41' 5'') in the shot put. Mikolay, a freshman, set a new school record in the shot put last weekend at the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships with a toss of 12.95 meters (42' 6''). This mark places her 50th amongst all DIII competition.
Summer Wallace leapt out to 10.18 meters (33' 4.75'') in the triple jump. Wallace was deemed ODAC Rookie of the Meet last weekend for her performances in the 200-meter dash and the long jump.
The Eagles will await potential bid announcements for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 8-9. Announcements will be available on the NCAA website on Sunday evening.
