BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's track & field team wrapped up day one of the Doc Jopson Invitational on Friday.
Starting off in the field in the field, Mike Smith captured third in the discus throw with a heave of 45.32 meters (148' 8.25''). Smith finished right behind former teammate Peter Fulton '23 who took part in the event unattached.
In the pole vault, Walker Knicely secured second place in the pole vault clearing the bar at the 4.03-meter (13' 2.5'') mark.
Trey Birchett saw fourth place in the javelin throw with a hurl of 48.72 meters (159' 10'').
Anthony Matthews placed fifth in the triple jump leaping out to a measurement of 12.98 meters (42' 7'').
Moving to the track portion, two Eagles placed top three in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with Ryder Rose placing second and Aidan Pentel coming in third. Rose clocked a time of 10:20.87 while Pentel came across the line at the 10:42.29 mark.
Gabriel Miller finished third in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:34.70 which places him eighth in program history for the event.
BC currently holds the top spot as a team with 53 points, Holy Family and Washington and Lee are tied for second with 35 points and Stevenson and Susquehanna come in tied with 24 points.
Bridgewater is back in action tomorrow for day two of the Doc Jopson Invitational with events beginning at 11 a.m.
