Men's Track & Field Finish Third at Doc Jopson Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College track & field team rounded out day two of the Doc Jopson Invitational.

The Eagles began the day with the hammer throw where Mike Smith recorded second place with a toss of 55.14 meters (180' 10.75''). This throw puts Smith in first in the ODAC while is sixth in Division III. Tony Nesselrodt secured points for BC with a fourth-place finish of 47.53 meters (155' 11.25''). Nesselrodt now sits in second in the conference with the toss.

Jesus Flores finished fourth in the shot put with a heave of 13.56 meters (44' 6'') which places him fourth in the league.

Moving to the track portion, Kyle Clanton qualified for the 100-meter dash with a preliminary time of 10.62 second which leads the ODAC and puts him in fifth in the nation. He finished second in the finals crossing the line at the 10.68 mark.

Clanton also took part in the 200-meter dash where he secured third clocking a 21.72 finish in the event.

The 4x400 meter relay squad consisting of Cy Alderman, Walker Knicely, Calvin Hulleman and Clanton finished in fourth with a time of 3:32.56. This time earns the team second in the conference.

BC finished in third place as a team racking up 96 points. Division II Holy Family won the meet recording 142 points while Susquehanna came in second with 110 points.

Bridgewater will have next weekend off, then will head to High Point, N.C. to compete in the VertKlasse Meeting on April 5-6.
