Box Score DANVILLE, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell to Averett 9-0 on Friday.
Averett swept the doubles points, but not without a fight at the No. 3 spot.
Corey Beshoar and
Bryce Cline. The duo rallied from 0-3 down to draw back within a game before another Cougar run made it 3-7. Over the next two games the pairing lost just one points to get it back to 5-7 before falling 5-8.
Mark Gordon and
Gabe Elder highlighted the singles action for BC. Gordon led 5-4 in the opening set before dropping three straight games to fall behind a set at 5-7 before dropping the second 1-6. Elder fell behind after dropping the first set 1-6, but turned things around as he went ahead 4-1 in set number two before a late comeback eliminated his hopes of forcing a decider.
Noah Hughes was also locked in a long battle despite a 2-6, 3-6 scoreline that took nearly 90 minutes.
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday as they host Randolph-Macon on Senior Day.
