BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's track & field team wrapped up a successful day one at the 2024 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The day started off with Summer Wallace grabbing second in the long jump with a leap measuring 5.52 meters (18' 1.25'') giving her All-ODAC honors on the second team. This also mark also moves Wallace to fifth in program history. J'Quaycia Brown secured points for the Eagles finishing sixth after jumping out to a measurement of 5.34 meters (17' 6'') putting her seventh in BC history.
Wallace also grabbed points in the high jump with a clear of 1.59 meters (5' 2.5'') giving her fifth in the event. She is now tied for fifth in the program's all-time top 10.
Abby Mikolay placed fourth in the shot put registering a toss of 12.01 meters (39' 4.75'') picking up five points for Bridgewater.
Brianna Morgan picked up points in the hammer throw recording a mark of 40.28 meters (132' 1.75'') to take eighth in the event.
Emily Smeds won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:25.40 to earn First Team All-ODAC honors. Smeds also had a podium finish in the 10,000-meter run crossing the line at the 37:48.89 mark placing her in third.
Wallace set a new personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.79 still giving her the seventh spot in program history. With this time, she qualifies for tomorrow's finals. Wallace also competed in the 100-meter dash finishing with a final qualifying time of 12.49 which moves her to sixth all time in BC history.
Olivia Bates recorded a new personal best of 15.75 in the 100-meter hurdles. With this new personal best, Bates moves to seventh in Bridgewater history.
BC finishes the day with 37 points to be second on the team leaderboard. Washington and Lee picked up 53.5 points to grab the first spot while Shenandoah and Lynchburg are tied for third with 34 points.
The Eagles are right back at it tomorrow for day two of competition with field events starting at 10 a.m. and track events beginning at 2 p.m.
