HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Bridgewater College women's track & field team had a successful day two at the VertKlasse Meeting on Saturday.
Abby Mikolay set a new outdoor school record in the shot put with a toss of 12.91 meters (42' 4.25''). She placed 18th in the event and was the top performer amongst Division III competition. This throw places her first in the ODAC while moving to 20th in DIII.
Olivia Bates posted a leap measuring 10.90 meters (35' 9.25'') in the triple jump giving her the seventh best mark in program history. In a field of competitors across all divisions, Bates was the top Division III competitor with a 17th-place finish. Bates also moves up to sixth in the conference.
Mackenzie Young recorded a new personal best in the 800-meter run crossing the line at the line at the 2:22.28 mark to finish in fifth place. She was the top runner amongst DIII competition. Young now sits eighth in BC program history with this time while is fourth in the league.
The Eagles return home this Saturday to Bridgewater Stadium for the North River Meet beginning at 9:30 a.m.
