MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Bridgewater College men's track & field team competed at the Mount Olive First Chance meet on Friday.
Mike Smith took second in the discus throw registering a toss of 46.27 meters (151' 10'') moving up to fourth all time in program history. Smith also saw action in the hammer throw recording a heave measuring 56.54 meters (185' 6''). Tony Nesselrodt competed in the hammer throw as well flinging the apparatus 49.74 meters (163'2''0.
Anthony Matthews grabbed third in the triple jump leaping out to a mark measuring 13.63 meters (44' 8.75'').
Kyle Clanton qualified for the 100-meter dash finals after a preliminary time of 10.61 then finished second in the finals crossing the finish line at the 10.54 mark. Clanton now has the 23rd best time in Division III.
The Eagles return to action tomorrow, May 11 for the Mount Olive Final Qualifier starting at 1 p.m.
