ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Mike Smith and Abby Mikolay of the Bridgewater College track and field team competed in one event on day two of the Augustana College Twilight Qualifier.
On the women's side, Mikolay reset the school shot put record for the third time this outdoor season registering a heave measuring 13.44 meters (44' 1'') that put her fourth overall in the event. This know moves her to 30th in Division III. Also, she added 0.30 meters to her previous personal best that she last weekend at the Mount Olive First Chance. The freshman thrower also took part in the discus recording a mark of 40.97 meters (134' 5'') giving her 15th in the event.
For the men, Smith earned a new personal in the discus placing 10th in the event with a toss measuring 47.41 meters (155' 6.5'') which moves him up to third in program history. This new best mark beats out his previous personal best by 1.14 meters that was set a week ago at the Mount Olive First Chance.
The Eagles will await potential bid announcements for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on May 23-25 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A press release with a list of the final qualifiers will be available on the NCAA website tomorrow evening.
