MYRTLE BEACH S.C. – Mike Smith of the Bridgewater College track & field team competed in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this afternoon.
After a delayed start, due to storms in the area, Smith registered a best mark of 54.19 meters (177' 9'') giving him 19th in the event.
Justin Eichler, from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville won the event with a top heave measuring 64.11 meters (210' 4''). The top eight finishers receive NCAA All-American honors on the first team, while nine through 16 earn a spot on the All-American second team list..
With the conclusion of this event this wraps up the Eagles' track & field season.
