FOREST, Va. - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced Tuesday afternoon senior thrower Mike Smith as ODAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week at the Burg Open to start out the indoor season for the Bridgewater Eagles. 

The Waynesboro, Va. native got off to a strong start in the field for the 2025 indoor season. Smith threw a 16.66m mark in the weight throw, placing first in the event and ranking fourth best in program history. Smith currently leads the conference and the region. That mark lands the senior with the 22nd best mark nationally. 

Additionally, Smith placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 13.54 meters which leads the conference and is seventh best in the south region. 

Smith gets back to action again on Jan. 18 at the Catholic Invitational in the Nation's Capitol.
