BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater men's track & field closed out the first day of action with strong performances at the Doc Jopson Invitational Friday. 

Mike Smith took first in the discus throw with a mark of 43.95m, Bryce Hoffman finished fifth with a mark of 38.02m. 

Gabe Miller put up a strong time in the 10,000m with a huge personal best of 33:15.53. That mark improved his eighth-fastest time all-time in program history.
