SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's track and field team opened competition at the Bast-Cregger Invitational Friday afternoon.
The Eagles opened their evening with three competitors in the women's 60-meter hurdles. Maddie Watson placed third in the preliminaries, clocking 9.27, the current 67th best time in division III. Olivia Crigger also qualified for the finals, crossing the line in 9.59 seconds. Watson and Crigger are scheduled to race in the finals in lanes three and two, respectively, tomorrow at 12:35 p.m.
Jade Buckles posted the top time in the first preliminary round of the women's 60-meter dash, stopping the clock at 7.90. Buckles placed second in the semis, clocking 7.94. The three-time ODAC track athlete of the week is scheduled to race in the finals from lane five tomorrow at 12:50 p.m.
Summer Wallace competed in the women's high jump. Wallace cleared 1.55 meters on her final attempt to crack the top 100 marks in division III. Wallace placed sixth overall for the event.
Alongside the previously mentioned finalists, the Eagles have several entries in track and field events for the second day of the invitational. The Eagles are scheduled to begin their competition tomorrow with the women's 4000-meter distance medley relay at 10:30 a.m.
