SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's track and field team competed at the Joe LaRocco Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Maddie Watson started the meet on a high note for the Eagles. In the women's high jump, Watson placed second. Her best mark of 1.61 meters ranked 58th in division III, and fifth on the program performance list.
Brianna Morgan led a convocation of Eagles in the women's weight throw with a third place finish. Morgan's top throw went 14.73 meters.
Summer Wallace bested the competition in the women's long jump. Wallace cleared 5.16 meters on her second attempt. Olivia Crigger placed third with a best jump of 4.98 meters.
Crigger and Watson controlled the top spots in the women's triple jump. Crigger's top mark of 11.20 meters ranked 38th in division III this season, and fourth on the program performance list. Watson's 10.74-meter jump earned her second.
Abby Mikolay placed second in the women's shot put with a best throw of 12.44 meters.
Jade Buckles placed first in the women's 200-meter dash. A 25.39 dash was a season best. Wallace joined Buckles in the event, placing third with a time of 26.14.
The Eagles ended the meet with a 4x400-meter relay. Buckles spearheaded the relay with a minute flat 400-meter split. With efforts from Arianna Jones, Wallace, and Annah Wood, BC placed first in the event, stopping the clock at 4:11.496.
The Eagles are scheduled to host the Rockingham Collegiate Track and Field Classic on Friday, Feb. 20. This is the final meet for the Eagles before the ODAC championship meet in Salem at the end of the month.
