SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's track and field team concluded their competition at the Bast-Cregger invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles started their morning with a third-place finish in the women's 4000-meter distance medley relay. The quartet of Annah Wood, Zoe Scott, Hannah Knudson, and Paige Hiserman laid down a time of 14:39.37, marking the best DMR time this season for the Eagles.
Maddie Watson and Olivia Crigger earned their spot in the finals of the women's 60-meter hurdles yesterday after running two of the eight fastest times in the preliminary. Watson placed third, crossing the line at 9.49. Watson's performance was a personal best and was the fourth-best mark in program history. Crigger placed sixth, crossing the line in 9.69 seconds.
Jade Buckles placed second in the women's 60-meter dash with a dash of 7.90 seconds. Buckles also competed in the women's 200-meter dash and placed second, clocking 25.77.
Summer Wallace, Arianna Jones, and Megan Walter competed in different heats in the women's 200-meter dash. Wallace claimed the final podium spot with a mark of 26.33. Jones placed fifth, crossing the line in 26.83 seconds. Walter placed tenth, stopping the clock at 27.84 seconds.
Wallace also competed in the women's 400-meter and logged an impressive performance. The Staunton, Va., native recorded a time of 59.05 for a second-place finish. Wallace's performance was the second best in program history.
The Eagles excelled in field events on day two of the invitational, as Crigger and Mikolay garnered a win in their respective events.
Crigger and Watson sat atop the final results of the women's triple jump. Crigger cleared 10.92 meters on her third jump to claim the top spot. Watson jumped 10.83 meters on her final attempt, setting a new personal best and the seventh-best time in program history.
Abby Mikolay opened with a bang in the women's shot put. The Waynesboro, Va., product threw 13.51 meters on her first attempt to place first and reset the top mark in program history. As of the conclusion of the meet, this throw is the ninth-best in division III.
Mikolay placed second in the women's weight throw. Mikolay placed second with a best throw of 14.89 meters coming on her last attempt. Her teammate, Brianna Morgan placed third. Morgan threw 14.76 meters on her first attempt. Elizabeth Ramos and Anna Dabaghyan placed eighth and ninth, respectively. Ramos's best throw of 13.75 came on her third attempt, and became the fifth-best mark in program history. Dabaghyan threw for 13.57 on her first attempt, marking the sixth-best mark in program history.
The Eagles are scheduled to journey across the commonwealth to Newport News, Va., on Sunday, Feb. 8 for the Vince Brown Invitational.
