SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's track and field team competed at the Joe LaRocco Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Max Madsen opened in the men's long jump for the Eagles. Madsen cleared 6.45 meters on his second jump, setting a new personal record. Madsen also competed in the men's triple jump. Jumping 12.84 meters on his first try earned him third in the event.
Walker Knicely placed third in the men's pole vault, clearing the 4.37-meter threshold on his third attempt.
Bridgewater had a stacked entry list for the men's weight throw. Jesus Flores led the charge with a best 16.01-meter throw. Flores was the top Division III finisher in the event. Sophomore Joe Flynn threw 15.61 meters on his fourth attempt, placing him eighth on the program performance list.
Flores bested the competition in the men's shot put with a top throw of 15.46 meters.
Joe Amlacher competed in the men's 60-meter hurdles and made the finals with an 8.78 mark in the prelims.
Malakai Wettig placed fourth in the men's mile, clocking 4:29.06.
Gabe Wylie placed third in the men's 200-meter dash with a season best time of 22.96.
The Eagles host the Rockingham Collegiate Track & Field Classic on Friday, Feb. 20. This is the final meet before the ODAC championship meet in Salem at the end of the month.
