Penn Laird, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's track and field team hosted and competed in the Rockingham Collegiate Classic on Friday. This was the last home meet of the indoor season before the ODAC meet.
The Eagles claimed placed seven throwers in the top-10 in the men's weight throw. Joe Flynn led the charge with a best throw of 15.60 meters. McKinley Goodbar placed second with a top throw of 14.65 meters, and Nick Goleno placed third with a best mark of 14.32 meters.
Trey Birchett placed third in the men's high jump, clearing 1.90 meters.
The Eagles made their presence known in men's shot put, as they placed six finishers in the top-10. Jesus Flores bested the field, throwing for 15.49 meters on both his first and third attempts. Antonio Harris placed second with a 13.48-meter throw. Luke Williams threw a best 14.21 meters on his third attempt for fourth place.
Walker Knicely reset the men's pole vault program record for the third time this season. Knicely cleared 4.65 meters after missing the mark twice. Knicely placed second in the event.
Freshman Jayden Brown and sophomore Joe Amlacher qualified for the finals of the men's 60-meter hurdles. Both BC hurdlers ran in the second heat, finishing third and fourth respectively in the preliminaries. Brown placed third in the finals after clocking 8.58, and Amlacher finished seventh.
Jayden Davenport qualified for the men's 60-meter dash finals on a 7.02-second dash, the third-best time in the preliminaries. Davenport recorded a 6.97-second dash in the finals to place third.
Davenport also placed third in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.81. Kyle Galloway placed fifth in the event, clocking 22.93.
Bridgewater's entry into the men's 4x400 relay placed second after a quartet of Grayson Jacquez, Kaedon Howley, Malakai Wettig, and Gavin Diehl put together a 3:40.34 ticket.
The Eagles are set to move on to the indoor post-season, as they compete in the ODAC Championship meet next weekend. The meet is being hosted by Roanoke College, and will take place on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1.
